I urge all piano students to practice at least 1 hour a day as a beginner, 2 hours a day as an intermediate, and hours a day as advanced. As for arranging, it will take a bit more than practice. You may want to enroll yourself in some music theory courses or have private music theory instruction.
You should be attempting harmonic and structural analysis on pieces that interest you. You should be improvising daily, and working on writing your own music. Try making variations on your favorite simple tune, or try arranging a pop song. The combination of your piano practice, music theory knowledge, and years of time spent arranging will show you results!

As per popular request, I have been juggling the idea of redoing a bunch of the old Disney tracks I recorded many years ago. It does not matter how old Kondo-sama gets, he still manages to churn out catchy melodies to this day. The fanfares and variations of repetitive chord sequences of Zimmer, certain themes and harmonies from Alan Menken, the cheerful ragtimes of Kondo… Can you name one that you like and one that you now find boring? Kyle Landry: As a composer myself, I find it very difficult to choose a particular style over another.
The reason why, is because I simply enjoy them all in different ways. If I had to choose which is the most boring, it would have to be the generic 4-chord, pop song style. IGN Italia: Internet brought a revolution in how music is distributed. Where in the past an artist could just hope for the support of a major, now it is possible to grow a fanbase - and possibly make a living - performing and composing in different ways: ads on Youtube and Twitch, Patreons, Kickstarters, iTunes Store and such.
Kyle Landry: The internet is the very reason why I was able to make music into a career. There is no way I would have a career in music without YouTube! Even the majority of my students are folks who found my music on the internet, and contacted me to start Skype lessons. No matter what way you look at it, without the internet, I would probably be sitting behind a desk working for a corporation, instead of chasing my dreams.
IGN Italia: How do you relate with your fanbase? One of the caveats of the internet distribution system is that you are always connected, which can be either good or bad, as it seems some people in comments and social networks either love or hate… pretty much anything!

These days, they do not bother me at all, and are very few and far between. Most people who are apart of my community are very supportive and kind!
